Vietnamese Men Preparing for Fatherhood in Australia: Roles for Fathers in Supporting New Mothers

Project type: PhD Project

Investigators: Nhat Huy Vo (lead), A/Prof. Kirstie McKenzie-McHarg (co-supervisor), Prof. Pauleen Bennett (Primary supervisor), Dr Jimmy Mai (co-supervisor, Principal Investigator).

In this PhD project, Nhat Huy Vo designed a research project seeking to enhance understanding of the lived experiences of Vietnamese perinatal fathers residing in Australia and inform attempts to provide appropriate support for this group. The project comprises four studies as part of a mixed-methods design. Findings have the potential to further our understanding of the lived experiences of CALD fathers, with a specific focus on Vietnamese fathers living in Australia, and will confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of a targeted training program designed for perinatal Vietnamese fathers living in Australia.
